Introduction to Hay Job Evaluation

Program Purpose:

Provides participants with the technical knowledge to perform Job Evaluations and the value of job sizing.

Teaching and Learning Strategies:

Formal presentations, group and individual classroom exercises on the technical aspects of Job Evaluation and job sizing. A large percentage of this course is dealt with practical Job Evaluation exercises.

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of this training program, the participants will be able to:

  • Perform Job Evaluations on all levels of positions
  • Be able to advise on why to create a JE Committee and recommend who should be on that Committee
  • Have the necessary information to chair a JE Committee
  • Understanding the relationship between job sizing and remuneration levels

Who Should Attend?

  • HR Supervisors and HR Managers who are involved in remuneration planning, recruitment, or organisational design.
  • HR officers may also benefit as a part of their Professional Development plans.
  • Line Managers who have been nominated to a JE Committee.

What Do You Need To Know?

  • A sound understanding of Job Analysis and Design. Attending the CTS JA, D & DW course or similar is preferable.

Teaching and Learning Strategies:

Structured training presentations by facilitators including individual and/or group exercises, activities and discussions. Participants are encouraged to bring samples of Job Descriptions and their organisational structure for use in the practical exercises.

The topics covered in this course include:

  • The basics of Job Evaluation and job sizing
  • Detailed information on the Hay Job Evaluation methodology
  • How to calculate Know How, Problem Solving and Accountability Hay points
  • Understanding grade structures and how they relate to job size
  • Hay points and how they relate to remuneration levels using Paynet

– Paynet is a proprietary product offered by the Hay Group through Concept in PNG as a remuneration Survey

Certificate Award: (Certification / qualification)

Participants who successfully complete the Intro to Hay Job Evaluation course will receive a ‘Certificate of Attainment’.
